Don't be Home During Showings of Your
Sarasota Home for Sale

and take your pets with you

For starters, prospective Sarasota home buyers will be uncomfortable if you are home when they come for a showing, and as a result, they might not be as anxious about viewing their potential new Sarasota home in as much detail as you would like them to. For example, while they'd like to see how big the closets are, they may not open closet doors knowing that they'll be looking at your things with you there.  They may wonder what kind of shape your floors are in under the area rugs, but won't lift the rug.

Visit a coffee shop, walk the dog, go to a movie or a park.Do anything but stay in the home. If you absolutely cannot leave, stay in an out-of-the-way area and don't move from room to room. Don't volunteer information to the prospective buyers but answer honestly any questions the Sarasota real estate buyers agent asks.

If you have pets, take them with you when you leave during showings if at all possible.

If you have a dog or cat, you don't want your pet running out the front door as the showing Realtor and his clients arrive. The Realtor will focus on retrieving your pet instead of showing the home to its best advantage. Second, your pet could get lost or harmed.

If you can't take your pet with you, ask a neighbor to keep your dog temporarily. If none of these options work, keep your pet in a penned area or limit them to someplace small like the laundry room and put a sign on the door. Most of the time, an indoor cat will hide when buyers come to view your Sarasota real estate property, but they may panic and try to escape. Make sure your Sarasota listing agent puts a notice in the MLS database if there are pets that must remain at home.

The prospective buyer of your Sarasota real estate property needs to feel "at home" in your home while he is viewing it.   Your Sarasota Realtor can best put that prospective buyer into that mood only if you're there.
