Pacifico to be Sarasota's First "Green" Community Development
Posted June 09, 2007
Taylor Woodrow announced that all its new neighborhoods in Sarasota County from this point forward will be built "green."
Lonnie Herman, VP of Sales and Marketing for Taylor Woodrow's Central Florida Division, said Pacifico will conserve energy, water and other resources, and preserve indigenous habitats and wetland buffers. Landscaping will be Florida-friendly, with native plants that are drought-tolerant.
The first Taylor Woodrow neighborhood in the Sarasota real estate market where this pilot program is to be launched is Pacifico. While Pacifico has not yet been formally announced, it is planned to be a walkable community on roughly 80 acres of Siesta Key. Pacifico is expected to include 302
single-family and multi-family homes, with prices starting around $600,000.
Pacifico homes "green" features will include paints, carpets, insulation and mastics that are low in volatile organic compounds; low-flow plumbing fixtures; compact fluorescent light bulbs; sealed ducts; and insulated or tinted windows.
